Current Role:

Postdoctoral Researcher, UCSB Environmental Markets Lab

PI: Steve Gaines and Reniel Cabral

Education:

Ph.D., Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, 2022, University of California at Santa Cruz

B.A. Biological Sciences and Environmental Studies, 2012, Wellesley College

Research Interests:

I study how U.S. West Coast marine ecosystems are responding to climate change and the potential impact of offshore renewable energy for West Coast fished species and fisheries. My research examines the vulnerability of individual species, species interactions, and the social-ecological system to future conditions.

Defense Public Talk

I focus on 1) assessing the sensitivity and exposure of commercially important fishes to future conditions, 2) potential predator/prey mismatches with climate change, and 3) the impact of both climate change and renewable energy solutions on fishing footprints and fishing communities.

At UC Santa Cruz I was co-advised by Dr. Elliott Hazen, a National Marine Fisheries Scientist researching the effect of climate change on biodiversity and predator-prey spatial dynamics; Dr. Kristy Kroeker, a global change ecologist examining drivers and emergent effects of environmental change in marine communities; and Dr. Mark Carr, an ecologist researching the population and community ecology of coastal marine fishes.
