Research Interests:

Ellen is a Biologist for the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Pacific Region. She serves as the fisheries subject matter expert for California, Oregon, Washington, Hawai’i, and Pacific Island Territories. Before her tenure at BOEM, she was a postdoctoral researcher at UCSB in EmLab’s Ocean & Fisheries program. Ellen is a global change biologist by training and received her PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of California Santa Cruz in 2022. Her work focused on projecting the impact of climate change on fished species and fisheries of the Northeastern Pacific Ocean.

She has over a decade of experience in fisheries biology, marine ecology, climate change science, ecosystem-based management, ocean and energy policy, and regulatory compliance. She is passionate about bridging science, policy, and industry to support sustainable ocean stewardship and marine spatial planning.
